FINESSE IN COLOUR AND DETAIL

Carpets from the town of Naïn

This small Iranian town sits halfway between Isfahan and Yazd. These carpets boast floral patterns and abstract motifs depicting boteh, flowers, spirals, leaves and more. The edges of these patterns will typically feature brilliant contrasts in natural silk. Favoured colours are beige, ivory, white and sapphire blue or more rarely, pale green. These fine carpets boast a concentration of knots, from 500 000 to 1.000.000 knots/m_ and feature Persian knots, or 'farsbaf'. They feature a cotton weave and blend wool and natural silk blend to produce the velvet.
